Guide Video Duplicate Cleaner

🔍 'Video Comparison' Tab

This tab allows you to compare two arbitrary video files in detail without running a full scan.

📌 Step 1: Selecting videos

Click the "Select first video" and "Select second video" buttons. The same formats as in scanning are supported.

⚙️ Step 2: Parameter configuration

  • Number of frames to compare (10 by default) – more frames = more accurate, but slower.

▶️ Step 3: Actions

After both videos are selected, the buttons become active:

  • 👁️ View pair – launches a detailed comparison of a sample of frames from both videos with frame‑by‑frame results.
  • 🔍 Compare selected videos – runs a comparison using the chosen number of frames from both videos and shows a detailed report.
  • 🗑️ Delete video1 / video2 – deletes the selected file (with confirmation and action choice).

📊 Step 4: Reading the results

After clicking Compare you will see:

  • Overall similarity as a percentage (weighted average across all frames).
  • Average similarity per algorithm (Histogram, Perceptual Hash, CNN+Faiss) – if the "all algorithms" mode is used (always active for manual comparison).
  • Details per frame – similarity of frames 1‑1, 2‑2, etc., broken down by algorithm.
🎯 How to interpret:
• 95‑100% — almost identical videos/frames.
• 80‑95% — very similar (possibly different quality or slight shifts).
• 60‑80% — partially similar (common scenes).
• Below 60% — different videos/frames.

🎬 Side‑by‑Side video comparison

The window opens with the "👁️ View pair" button (from the scan results or from the "Video Comparison" tab). It allows you to compare two videos frame by frame in detail.

  • Frames: A frame is displayed for each video. Frames are extracted uniformly from the entire video (about ten frames).
  • Frame similarity: Above each video, the numeric similarity of the current frame (from 0% to 100%) is shown, calculated as a weighted average of the algorithms (Histogram, pHash). Individual values for Histogram and pHash are also displayed.
  • Navigation: The "⏮ Previous" and "Next ⏭" buttons allow you to switch between frames. The counter shows the current frame number and the total number of frames.
  • File information: Below each video, full information is displayed: file name, size, resolution, duration, FPS, number of frames in the original video, and the full path.
  • File deletion: The "🗑️ Delete/move" button above the video allows you to delete or move the corresponding file (with confirmation and action choice).

💡 Tip: Use this window to visually check frame similarity before marking files for deletion. Switch between frames to confirm that the videos are indeed duplicates of each other.
