Guide Video Duplicate Cleaner

⚙️ Extended Pre‑filtering

Pre‑filtering helps significantly speed up scanning by filtering out obviously unsuitable files and pairs before deep comparison.

💡 Where is it? The ⚙️ Pre‑filter button on the scan tab.

📁 Video File Filtering (“Video Filtering” tab)

These filters are applied to each video before it enters the comparison list.

  • File size – set a minimum and/or maximum size in MB.
  • Duration – filters out videos that are too short or too long.
  • Filename – include only those that contain a specific substring (or exclude them). Regular expressions can be used.
  • Formats – select which extensions to scan (by default all supported formats).

⚡ Pair Pre‑filtering (“Fast Comparison” tab)

After collecting metadata, the program quickly evaluates video pairs and discards those that obviously cannot be similar.

  • Consider size – deviation threshold in percent (e.g., 50% → file sizes must differ by no more than a factor of 1.5).
  • Consider duration – similar threshold for video time.
  • Consider resolution – width and height are compared separately with the given threshold.
⚠️ Important: Pair pre‑filtering does not guarantee 100% accuracy – it may discard pairs that are visually similar but have different technical characteristics (e.g., FullHD and 4K versions of the same video). Therefore, start with pre‑filtering disabled, and if scanning is too slow, enable it and increase the thresholds if necessary.

🔁 Reset settings – the “Reset all file filters” and “Reset pair pre‑filtering settings” buttons restore default values.
